Cahokia Rice

Overview: This post highlights IU Dining’s new partnership with Cahokia Rice, a locally grown, sustainable food option. The goal was to keep the message clear and eye-catching for social media, using bold type, IU’s crimson red branding, and earthy visuals on the bottom to reflect health and sustainability. It’s designed to quickly inform students and encourage pride in supporting local agriculture.

Objective: IU Dining decided to promote Cahokia Rice to their menu. The goal was to notify the college students on social media or around campus who are often scrolling quickly or on-the-go in between classes that may might miss out on dining updates.

Goals
- keep the message clear and eye-catching for social media and digital signage around campus
- using bold type, incorporating IU’s and Cahokia Rice's branding seamlessly together
- using Cahokia Rice's earthy visuals on the bottom to reflect health and sustainability

Solution: Since college students usually only glance at a post or sign for a few seconds, I made sure the header for Cahokia Rice was placed right at the top and took up nearly a third of the space to grab attention fast. I kept the message clear and to the point by adding a bold call to action, "Now Served by IU Dining "with "IU Dining" enlarged and bolded for emphasis. To help it pop, I used IU Crimson Red behind white text for strong contrast. I also added a red bar at the bottom with the link to Cahokia Rice’s website so students could easily find it, whether they’re scrolling on social media or glancing at a digital sign. The placement helps keep the layout balanced while making the link easy to spot.
